Dr. Anil Tibrewala: A Rotarian dedicated to making a difference

Dr. Anil Tibrewala is a plastic surgeon who runs his own clinic at Saifee Hospital. He is also attached to Hinduja Hospital, Breach Candy Hospital and the new Hinduja Healthcare Surgical in Khar. A Rotarian since 1999, Dr. Tibrewala regularly conducts Free Plastic Surgery Camps for patients who cannot afford to undergo corrective surgery.

Dr. Anil Tibrewala finished his schooling from St. Mary’s High School (SSC), Mazgaon where he interacted with students from all walks of life, including some who were so poor that they could ill-afford the school fees. The hardships and the struggles that the children faced left an indelible impression on Dr. Anil Tibrewala.

Dr. Anil Tibrewala then joined Jai Hind College to pursue a degree in science. Anil enrolled in Topiwala National Medical College (affiliated to Nair Hospital) for his medical degree. While obtaining his MS in General Surgery, Anil did two years of registrarship at Rajawadi Hospital, Ghatkopar. He went on to complete his MCh in Plastic Surgery from Nair Hospital in 1986.

Dr. Anil Tibrewala did a fellowship at the Tata Hospital to learn about post-cancer reconstructive surgery. He knew that his calling lay in cosmetic surgery. To pursue this, he went to Paris, France and secured a year’s fellowship with two wonderful plastic surgeons, Dr. Michel Soussaline and Dr. Christiane Kauer.
