Mid Town Musings: January 2018

Dear Friends,

As we step into 2018, may God bless you and keep you protected and in good health so that you can celebrate many more New Years. But first of all, enjoy this one and stay happy. May this New Year bring peace in your life, warmth and togetherness in your family and much prosperity. Happy New Year!

December was a socially busy month with weddings and parties galore for most of us. To get into the mood, we began the month with a Fellowship on the 6th December at Wodehouse Gymkhana. The highlight of the evening was a saxophonist who kept everyone enthralled with lovely music. On 13th December, we had Meeran Chadha Borwankar, IPS share her interesting experiences as a woman in the predominantly male bastion of police officers. We held our 50th AGM on 20th December and I feel honoured to have presided over this milestone AGM. Members were happy to note that the leadership of the Club is well charted out for the next few years and with younger members on the ladder. On 27th December, fitness expert Nawaz Modi Singhania shared many tips and secrets for wellness, especially on issues that nag our body as we get older.

I was happy to attend the Charter Night celebrations of our very active Inner Wheel Club on 9th December. It was nice to see the men accompany their member wives for a lovely evening at the Bombay Gymkhana. 15th December was a busy Rotary day with two events. Like every year, Piyush Khaitan and the Somani family distributed mobility aid appliances at NASEOH under our Club’s aegis. The recipients, though given the short end of the stick by life, were happy to receive these appliances which help their mobility and maintain their dignity. Later that day, the Rotaract Club of Kundnani College had their Installation and the team for the year took over. This Rotaract, inactive for some time, can hopefully become as active as ever with their enthusiasm and our support. On 16th December, our Senior Citizen Committee had organised a visit to the St. Anthony’s Home for the Aged where we distributed toiletries and eats lovingly put together by Dr. Vimal and Dr. Arvind Kasbekar. Rotaractors from Lala College were also present and sang carols for the residents.

There is a very interesting Rajasthani Night Fellowship planned in January. Many of us Rajasthanis have met more than once in these past few weeks to plan for this and I am sure this evening will be remembered for a long time to come.
