Prioritising Sanitation
My Fellow Rotarians,
You will agree that the prestige and importance of our Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-Town in the field of community service is well recognised in our District 3140.
Findings of the latest government survey revealed that as many as 70 per cent rural households do not have access to toilet facility even after 66 years of independence. This year our stalwarts Rtn Nirbhay Jain and Rtn Yogesh Pandya are working on a very ambitious but extremely need-based project in line with the Rotary International global objectives of Water and Sanitation, for providing a total of 1,000 toilets to villagers in the rural areas of Maharashtra—500 in Potkhal area and 500 in Nere area. I appeal to all our members for help in contributing to the many requests from committees against the listed committee budget. I am happy to say that a few have responded generously. They will be listed in our next Bulletin. My grateful thanks!
The District 3140 Conference is to be held on Saturday, January 31, and Sunday, February 1, 2015, at NSCI Worli. The host club for this is RC Bombay Pier. I have received reminder calls from our Assistant Governor asking maximum registration from our Club. I would request all our Office-Bearers and Directors to register for this Conference. In response to our DG Ajay Gupta’s request, our Club has sent the name of PP Anil Kamath to the DG (2017-18) Nominating Committee (DGNC) and PP Tilak Mehta as an alternate nominee.
The Official Club Visit of the District Governor Ajay Gupta is in January 2015. I would like to gently remind those few who have not yet sent their semi-annual Club membership fees to do so as soon as possible.
